We found really pretty invitations that had a mermaid on them and the ideas grew from there! Table numbers that I created to look like fish scales really turned out amazing, as did the simple fish net & shell centerpieces. (The bride was anti flowers and these really converted the tables). A simple ruffle cake with an adorable topper that I had custom made on Etsy. We turned the idea of a simple clothesline into a mermaid/fish themed clothesline so that it kept the under the sea vibe going.
And my very favorite addition to this shower is definitely the take home favors! Since the shower was early December I thought of Christmas ornaments.. People will actually use them! I am a huge believer that favors should be useful. Candles, and personalized drinking glasses with your name and wedding date on them.... cute, but not so desirable. I actually used Kohl's 30 percent off coupons and found these amazing mermaid ornaments. I wanted them to have cute thank you tag's on them and came up with the cheesy but appropriate tag line "Thank you for joining us under the sea, Please think of this day when you look at your tree" in keeping with the theme. I made the tags myself and they got tons of compliments. Although I was busy hosting as my sister was on bed rest and couldn't leave her chair and didn't get as many pictures as I would have liked, this party was when I decided I wanted to do event planning for others.
